Three of the nine seats on the Meade School Board are up for election this year. The positions that will become vacant due to the expiration of their terms are those held by Courtney Mack, Sturgis; Dennis Chowen, Sturgis; and Joseph Urbaniak, Union Center.
Any person who resides within Meade School District and is registered to vote is eligible to file a nominating petition. The petition may be picked up at the school business office, 1230 Douglas Street, Sturgis, or downloaded at: www.meade.k12.sd.us/index.php/school-board/election/
The petition must contain the signatures of at least 20 registered voters of Meade School District. The first day to circulate nominating petitions is Wednesday, March 1. Deadline to file the nominating petitions is 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, in the office of the Meade School District business manager.
