Homecoming is this week

“Celebrate the World” is the theme of Sturgis Brown High School homecoming which is underway this week.

The weeklong celebration will kick off with spirit activities, when students dress according to the theme for the day. Monday is Decade Day and Tuesday is Super Hero Day. On Wednesday, students’ attire will be determined by grade level as follows: seniors-Toga Day, juniors-Wild West Day, sophomores-Nerd Day and freshmen-Baby Day. Staff members will also be able to get into the spirit of Wednesday’s celebration with Hobo Day. The theme for Thursday is Celebrity Day while Friday is Black and White Day or Celebrate the World Day.

Due to the timing of the parade for the 842nd on Thursday and because there are so many SBHS students who have family members in the 842nd, Thursday's coronation is being moved back a half hour to 6:30 p.m. It will be held in the west gym at the high school. This will be followed at 7:40 p.m. with the burning of the “S” and at 8 p.m. with finals of the powder puff football game, both at Woodle Field. There is a $1 admission to the powder puff football game which will benefit the Sturgis United Way.

The parade will begin at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, from Ball Park Road near Sturgis Elementary School. The parade will head north to Farley Street, east to Third Street, north to Douglas Street, east to Junction Avenue, north to Main Street, west to Third Street, south to Sherman Street and west to Fifth Street and back to Ball Park Road, where it will disband.
