The Meade School District honored 55 employees during its annual Staff Recognition and Retirement Reception, at Sturgis Brown High School.
Kayleen Selfridge, a teacher at Piedmont Valley Elementary School was announced as the Meade School District Teacher of the Year. Nominees for Teacher of the Year included, Kristi Dahl (Sturgis Elementary School), Jordan Himley (Stagebarn Middle School), Tim McCann (Sturgis Brown High School), Michela Meredith Whitewood Elementary School), and Megan Oviatt (Sturgis Williams Middle School).
Wendy Johnson, from Piedmont Valley Elementary, was recognized at the Support Staff of the Year. Nominees for Support Staff of the Year, building winners were: Myla Budmayr (Special Services), Renee Herringer-Deome (Stagebarn MS), Vick Duran (Sturgis Williams MS), Cathy Johnson (Sturgis Brown HS), Christian Kotab ( IT Department), Kathy Opstedahl (Hereford), and Taylor Toolen (Special Services).
Staff members were presented gifts for 10-15-20-25-35-40 years of service and eight retirees were honored. This years retirees were James Adams (Buildings & Grounds), Anita Da Silva (Special Services), Marnie Masten (Piedmont Valley), Kristi Ortiz (Sturgis Elementary), Michael Schultz (Sturgis Brown HS), and Kerry Skinner (Sturgis Williams MS).
