Sturgis Brown High School Activities Director, Jade Temple, is excited to announce the hiring of Sharon Peterson, pending Board of Education approval, as the next Head Volleyball Coach for the Scoopers.
Peterson is a Sturgis native and proud Scooper alumna who starred as a setter for the Sturgis volleyball program. She helped lead her team to an 8th-place finish at the State AA Tournament in the 1999–2000 season and was also selected to the 2001 South Dakota North All-Star Team.
Her coaching journey began in 2002 as a 7th-grade coach, then transitioned to the high school level. In 2005, Peterson took over as head coach, a position she held for 10 seasons, during which she led the Scoopers through many successful and competitive years. Since then, she has remained actively involved in volleyball—playing in leagues, coaching her daughters’ AAU teams, and volunteering with the high school program.
Coach Peterson’s passion for volleyball and commitment to developing student-athletes have remained strong throughout her career. We are excited for her return to the program and for her contributions to its continued growth.
