The Meade School District is forming a Four-Day School Week Calendar Committee and is seeking individuals who are interested in serving.
This committee will be composed of administrators, teachers, classified staff, parents, students, a community/business representative, and board members. The purpose of the committee is to thoroughly research and evaluate the implementation of a four-day school week, with possible implementation in Fall 2027.
Specifically, the committee will:
Exploring a four-day week, including recruitment and retention of staff
Examine impacts on student learning
Examine impacts on families and child care
Review potential budget implications
Analyze academic and activity considerations with calendar
Create calendar options for public to review
Establish clear criteria for how a four-day week would be evaluated and judged as a success or failure
This process will be research-driven and collaborative, with the goal of gathering accurate information, reviewing data, and gathering diverse perspectives before any decisions are considered. Commitment is from late March 2026 to January 2027.
