Meade School District Announces New Principal Appointment

Sturgis, SD — The Meade School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Amanda Christensen as the new principal of Stagebarn Middle School effective the 2026-27 school year.

Christensen brings more than a decade of experience in education, including classroom teaching and instructional leadership. She currently serves as the Assistant Principal at Stagebarn Middle School and Piedmont Valley Elementary School, where she has been involved in district literacy initiatives, professional learning communities, and school safety training.

Throughout her career, Christensen has demonstrated a strong commitment to student achievement and staff development. Her work has included implementing literacy initiatives aligned with the Science of Reading, supporting district professional development, and helping lead efforts that earned Purple Star School recognition.

Christensen holds a K–12 Principal Licensure from the University of Dayton and a Master of Science in Education as a Reading Specialist from Augustana College. She was also honored with the prestigious Milken Educator Award, recognizing outstanding educators with exceptional instructional practice and leadership potential.
