SBHS STATE TRACK 2025

Sturgis Brown High School track and field athletes capped off their season with an impressive showing at the South Dakota State Track Meet held in Sioux Falls, bringing home multiple medals and setting a high standard of performance across various events.

In distance running, Ty Petrocco and Quinn Bruch both earned medals in the 1600- and 3200-meter races. Petrocco placed 7th in the 1600 and 4th in the 3200, while Bruch finished 8th in the 1600 and 6th in the 3200. The pair also teamed up in the boys 4x800-meter relay, along with Taylor Colunga and Ty Ferguson, to earn an impressive 3rd place finish.

Sturgis’s relay teams made strong showings across the board. The boys 4x200-meter relay team—EJ Brant, Jude Legner, Mason Venjohn, and Seth Burton—finished 8th. The 4x400-meter squad of Legner, Carson Wolter, Burton, and Ferguson also secured 8th place. In the medley relay, Legner, Burton, Ferguson, and Petrocco combined efforts to take 7th.

Individually, Carson Wolter placed 5th in the boys long jump, adding to the team's overall medal count.

On the girls’ side, Avery Marler had a standout meet, medaling in all four of her events. She took 2nd place in the long jump, 3rd in both the 200 and 400 meters, and 4th in the 100-meter dash. Charlotte Fjelstad also performed well, finishing 5th in the 300-meter hurdles.

The girls 4x800-meter relay teamIris Zylstra, Keelin Dinkins, Paige Willnerd, and Lucy Hamer—placed 6th, rounding out the team’s accomplishments at the state meet.

Sturgis Brown’s strong presence at the state level capped off a season of hard work and determination, with numerous athletes achieving personal bests and contributing to the team's success on the big stage.
