Congrats to our 2 winners of the American Legion School Award Medal

8th grade parents, don't miss out on an opportunity to join your student one last time at Stagebarn Middle School for parents reception. Hope to see ya there!

What a wonderful experience that Horace Mann is giving to one lucky teacher here at Stagebarn Middle School. Congratulations to our 7th grade reading teacher, Ms. Buckley, on winning the Magical Experience trip by Disney Institute.

The Last Day of School for students is Wednesday, May 20, 2026—and yes, it’s a 2-hour early release (because even the school day knows it can’t compete with summer 😎).
Translation: backpacks will be lighter, attention spans will be very negotiable, and dismissal might just be the fastest part of the entire school year.

Today we celebrate our hard working kitchen staff that come in early to make sure breakfast is ready and stay late to keep the kitchen in tip top shape. Thank you for your dedication and hard work. You have not been forgotten!

Help us with our trimester 3 color war challenge. Bring in those pop tabs to win points for your color team!

Hello Parents/Guardians & Community Members!
We love seeing our community enjoy the fields at Piedmont Valley Elementary and Stagebarn Middle School —but lately, our grass has been doing a little too much “business.” 💩 If you’re out walking your pup, please remember to scoop the poop! Please stay off of the football field and surrounding areas. Our students would prefer grass, not surprises.
Help us keep the fields open for everyone—otherwise, we may have to press “paws” on public access and we don't want for it to come to that.
Thanks for being a responsible pet owner! 🐶

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Meade School District Announces New Assistant Principal for Piedmont Valley Elementary and Stagebarn Middle School Starting the 2026-27 School Year
Meade School District 46-1
April 15, 2026
The Meade School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Melissa Thienes as Assistant Principal at Piedmont Valley Elementary and Stagebarn Middle School.
Thienes brings a wealth of experience in educational leadership, with a strong focus on instructional excellence, equity, and student achievement. She began her career as a classroom teacher in Washington, where she developed a passion for supporting diverse learners and implementing culturally responsive teaching practices. During this time, she earned her National Board Certification and gained early leadership experience coordinating an English Language Learner (ELL) summer school program.
Throughout her career, Thienes has served in a variety of leadership roles, including ELL Facilitator, Literacy Specialist, and Assistant Principal. She later served seven years as an Elementary Principal, where she led school improvement efforts and fostered a collaborative learning environment. Most recently, she has worked as a Director of Student Services, leading districtwide systems work and helping design and implement a comprehensive Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework to strengthen early intervention and collaboration between general and special education.
Melissa’s depth of experience and commitment to student success make her an outstanding addition to our leadership team. Her background in instructional leadership and systems-level work will be a tremendous asset to our schools and community.
Thienes is recognized for her collaborative leadership style, dedication to coaching and professional growth, and ability to build strong relationships with staff and students. A graduate of Wall and a former elementary student in Enning, South Dakota, she is excited to return to her roots, reconnect with family, and continue serving students, families, and staff in the Meade School District.
She will begin her new role early this summer!
