
The Meade School District School Board cordially invites the public to the Staff Retirement & Recognition Reception to honor the Meade School District 2023-24 employees who are retiring, those who have worked 15, 20, 30, 35, 40 years and those who have been selected as teacher and professional-technical support staff of the year.
This year the banquet will be held the morning of Wednesday, May 22 at 8:00 am in the West Gym at Sturgis Brown High School. A breakfast bar will be served by our very own Lori Jeffery-Kirk!
This free event is open to the public. Family members or general public must make reservations by calling the superintendent’s office at 605-347-2523, ext. 1, or email tanya.ludwick@k12.sd.us.

Friday, April 12th is Purple-Up for Military Kids! On this Day please wear purple to represent the resilience of military kids.


Meade School District is hosting the regional SDMEA Festival Choir for 7th and 8th graders at the Sturgis Community Center today, Thursday, April 4. It is open to the public and admission is $5.


Reminder: Bus Route Change Requests, Suggestions and Complaint Requests are due today, Tuesday, April 2, 2024 to the Superintendents Office.


Reminder: Today, Tuesday, March 26 is the LAST day to file/withdraw petitions for school board.


The Meade School District 46-1 will have a 2 hour late start tomorrow Monday, March 25. Busses will be running two hours later. This includes Sturgis Brown High School, Sturgis Williams Middle School, Sturgis Elementary, Piedmont Valley Elementary, Stagebarn Middle School, Whitewood Elementary School, Atall, Elm Springs, Hereford, Opal and Central Meade Co School

Congratulations to Pat Cass, 8th grade science teacher at Sturgis Williams MS and Julie Peterson, paraprofessional at Piedmont Valley Elementary for receiving the DISTRICT Teacher of the Year and the Professional/Technical Support Staff of the Year for 2024-25. The two were selected for the honor from among nominees submitted by the administrative units throughout the district.
The two will be honored at the Staff Retirement and Recognition Banquet in May which will be held in the west gym at Sturgis Brown High School. Mr. Cass will have the choice to become a nominee for Region Teacher of the Year with the SD Department of Education.

Due to a waterline break at Sturgis Brown High School, there will be no school for Sturgis Brown High School students ONLY Wednesday, February 28, 2024. Busses will not run to SBHS.
