Meade School District 46-1 board members and district administrators met with State Legislators, John Carley, Terri Jorgensen and Kathy Rice for the Legislative Round Table Discussion and Dinner at the SWMS Library prior to the school board meeting on Monday, December 9, 2024.

Sponsored Lunch at Sturgis Brown High School on Thursday, November 21st! A local group has made an anonymous donation to buy lunch for students! This is only at SBHS for this date, but we hope that there will be more sponsored breakfasts or lunches in all of our schools this year. The Meade School District 46-1 recently received four AEDs from the Huddle For Hearts The Peyton Walker Foundation. As a seasoned CPR Instructor for The Peyton Walker Foundation, Bill is embarking on a journey across the US to deliver vital CPR training and bring awareness to the Huddle For Hearts program.
These AEDs will be placed in the district's rural schools: Atall Elementary, Elm Springs Elementary, Hereford Elementary, and Opal Elementary.

The South Dakota Services for the Deaf (SDSD) will conduct free hearing screenings at the following schools:
Whitewood Elementary: December 16 (grades KG-5)
Sturgis Williams Middle School: January 15 (grades 5-7)
Sturgis Elementary: January 16 (grades KG-3)
If your child does not pass the hearing screening, our school will contact you with the results. Rescreens or further testing can be completed at no charge, with the pediatric audiologist at:

Congratulations to the Meade School District 46-1 Board of Education on receiving the Gold Level Award in ASBSD’s statewide board recognition program.
ALL, which stands for Act, Learn, Lead and awards points for a board’s collective participation in activities and training related to school board work and for demonstrating leadership in public education at the local, state and national level, throughout the previous school year.
Meade School Board earned 500+ points for the the Gold Level for the 5th consecutive year.
There will be a KIWANIS BREAKFAST at Sturgis Williams Middle School on Friday, October 18th! The Kiwanis Club will provide a school breakfast to students. This is a great opportunity to try school breakfast!
