
5th and 6th grade students enjoyed the fresh air and mountain bike trails in Sturgis last week in celebration of state testing being finished and all the hard work they have put in throughout the school year.

The high school wrestling team was recognized by the South Dakota Legislature Wednesday, May 7. SWMS Mason Hagen was a part of this team wrestling a 120 pounds.

SWMS students and staff showed off their many talents on Friday, May 2 in the annual Talent Show.











Nine eight grade boys made the commitment to play football at the high school level on April 26th.


SWMS 5th graders showed off their talents in a pirate themed play on April 29th.



On Thursday, April 24th the SWMS 6th - 8th choirs along with the 5th grade show choir put a beautiful concert for the public.

The school board approved an amendment to the 2024–25 school calendar at the Monday, April 14 board meeting. The final day for students will now be Tuesday, May 20, with a 2-hour early release.

April is known as the month of the Military Child. In recognition of this SWMS students and staff wore purple today, April 11, in honor of students whose parent/guardian is or was in the military. We appreciate the sacrifice our service personnel make to protect our country and the sacrifice their children make while they are deployed. SWMS has 80 students who are children of military families.





Mrs. Mullaney's class just finished up studying fractions and then put that knowledge to use in the real world by baking banana bread.

Time is running out, to get your 2024-2025 Yearbook. All yearbooks will be sold online. No extra yearbooks will be ordered. Make sure you take advantage of this opportunity to preserve all your middle school memories. Deadline to order is April 7th. Flyers were sent home with students but there are extras in the main office.


Mrs. Neilan’s STEM and Science students put the engineering design process to the test with an epic Hot Wheels challenge in the school commons! With tracks twisting, cars zooming, and brains buzzing, they explored kinetic energy, gravitational potential energy, and speed. The grand finale? A car conquering a hill and rocketing through a loop—science in action!
