On Monday, May 19 members of our student council were recognized for the fantastic job they have done promoting school spirit, helping others, and organizing events throughout the school year. We had 30 hard working individuals who accomplished a lot this year. We started out the year with Homecoming. We organized and promoted spirit days, worked with the City of Sturgis to "Paint the Plows" which were featured in the Homecoming Parade. We also made our own Homecoming Float to enhance school spirit. Next, we challenged homerooms at SWMS to create Thanksgiving baskets for families who wouldn't be able to provide a typical Thanksgiving dinner. We were able to provide over 40 families with a feast, we also donated a large amount of goodies to the food pantry. At Christmas time we provided 30+ students with Christmas gifts who wouldn't necessarily receive any without Student Council's help. We decorated lockers, organized teacher appreciation and bus driver appreciation, had Valentine sales, field days, reward days, and we ever ran an action-packed dodgeball series with a grand finale tournament involving both students and teachers. We just finished the year out with decorating for the 8th grade reception and dance.
