Family Game Night

On Tuesday, November 11 Sturgis Williams Middle School held a program to honor our Veterans. The SWMS choir preformed along with the band. We were honored to have Major Shane Skinner from the South Dakota Army National Guard speak to the students and community in the audience. Eighth grader, Oliver Voight, honored Veterans with a poem he read during the program. We ended the program with students and staff presenting all Veterans in attendance with a carnation.
SWMS also created a Wall of Freedom that featured Veterans who were relatives of students and staff.
SWMS once again would like to extend our gratitude to all Veterans.

Veteran's Day Program

PTSA Game Night

Best of Luck to the high school football team as they compete in the semifinals!

SWMS will be rewarding students who have Perfect Attendance each month. In order to be eligible, students must be in school every day and not have a single tardy for that month. Tracking for Perfect Attendance will start over at the beginning of each month, making EVERY student eligible every month. School activities do NOT count against the student.
On November 3rd SWMS recognized 19 - fifth grade students, 26 - sixth grade students, 32 -seventh grade students, and 19 - eight grade students who had perfect attendance. The SWMS PTSA randomly selected one lucky student from each grade to receive a $5 coupon to the SWMS concession stand that was redeemed immediately. Five other students from each grade selected randomly were given the option to choose a gift card from Burger King, McDonalds, Pizza Ranch, the Hotel Sturgis - Coffee Shop, or the Sturgis Community Center. All perfect attendance students received popcorn during their lunch as well. How awesome to have 96 students with no tardies or absences. Thank you to Burger King, McDonalds, Pizza Ranch, the Sturgis Community Center, The Hotel Sturgis - Coffee Shop, and the SWMS PTSA for sponsoring this event.

Today SWMS fifth graders showed off their creative and engineering skill by creating carnival type games for SES first graders to enjoy. Fifth graders also sharpened their communication and team building skills with this activity. Fifth graders worked in teams to create games for the first graders to compete in and then had to explain the rules of the game to the first graders.
