SWMS will Go Gold on October 23rd to recognize young people with childhood cancer, honor those who have lost their battle to childhood cancer, and celebrate the survivors of childhood cancer.

October is breast cancer awareness month. The students of SWMS wore pink on Thursday, October 16 in honor of all those who have passed away, survived or are fighting breast cancer.

SWMS choir students treated patrons of the Sturgis Senior Citizen Center to a free concert on Thursday, October 9th.

SWMS would like to thank Girl Scout Troop 72143 for their generous donation to the Scooper Closet.

Support the PTSA after you support your child! The Loud American food truck will be at SWMS during Parent Teacher Conferences on Tuesday, Oct. 7th. 10% of sales will go to the PTSA.

SWMS will be rewarding students who have Perfect Attendance each month. In order to be eligible, students must be in school every day and not have a single tardy for that month. Tracking for Perfect Attendance will start over at the beginning of each month, making EVERY student eligible every month. School activities do NOT count against the student.
On October 1st SWMS recognized 25 - fifth grade students, 21 - sixth grade students, 33 -seventh grade students, and 17 - eight grade students who had perfect attendance. The SWMS PTSA randomly selected one lucky student from each grade to receive a $5 coupon to the SWMS concession stand that was redeemed immediately. Five other students from each grade selected randomly were given the option to choose a gift card from Burger King, McDonalds, Pizza Ranch, or the Sturgis Community Center. All perfect attendance students will be receiving popcorn during their lunch as well. How awesome to have 97 students with no tardies or absences. Thank you to Burger King, McDonalds, Pizza Ranch, the Sturgis Community Center, and the SWMS PTSA for sponsoring this event.
